Dr. Roy Blackwood
In 1964, Second Reformed Presbyterian Church was organized and Dr. Roy Blackwood was installed as pastor in 1966. Dr. Blackwood grew up in New Concord, Ohio where he was baptized and attended the Reformed Presbyterian Church. He served in the Navy as navigator and division officer in World War II. Dr. Blackwood graduated from Geneva College and attended the Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary. Dr. Blackwood was ordained by the Illinois Presbytery and was pastor of the Bloomington, Indiana RPC. In 1961, he went to Scotland to study at the University of Edinburgh until 1963 for his Ph. D. in History of Theology. The Illinois Presbytery then appointed Dr. Blackwood as overseer of an Indianapolis ministry. Dr. Blackwood has been used by God in the development of ministries in West Lafayette, Muncie, Columbus and southern Indianapolis. He has been involved in Psalm translation and revision for singing since 1967. Dr. Blackwood and his wife, Margie, have three children: Bill, Beth and Bob.
Pastor Rich Johnston
Born in Chicago, Illinois, and raised in the west suburbs, Pastor Rich Johnston received his Bachelor's degree from Illinois State University and later received his Master's in Education from Ball State University in 1974. Pastor Johnston taught for 20 years in Indianapolis (Indianapolis Public Schools and Lawrence Township schools). Pastor Johnston felt a call to pastorate in 1988. He took seminary classes from 1990-1992 while interning under Dr. Blackwood. He attended the Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary from 1992-1993. Pastor Johnston was ordained and installed as an associate pastor of Second Reformed Presbyterian in 1993. Pastor Johnston and his wife, Beckie, have three children: Brad, Kim and Stephen.
